Diabetes is a serious public health issue affecting an estimated 9.7 million US women but how often do you consider the rising effects of diabetes in our community?

Divabetic, a national nonprofit, provides free education, empowerment and encouragement for women at risk, affected by and living with diabetes to stay healthy and upbeat about their daily self-care. To do this, we have created many innovative outreach programs devoted to women affected by diabetes including ‘Divabetic - Makeover Your Diabetes' sponsored by Novo Nordisk as well as their family members including our Halloween-themed family health program, the Broomstick Bash, with Mount Sinai Medical Center that takes diabetes education out of the clinical setting and into a fun and supportive environment.

Join our growing list of caring organizations and corporations who have helped us to bring free diabetes education to their communities: Spelman College, The University of New Orleans, Manhattan College, Mount Vernon Girl Scouts, Ms. NYC Plus Pageant, Manhattan College, N’ Motion Dance Company, Mercer University, CVS Pharmacy, Nickelodeon, LIM College, University of Dallas, Xavier University, American Diabetes Association, The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Centro College and the Diabetes Association of Great Cleveland. All volunteers are needed for our ‘Divabetic – Makeover Your Diabetes’ events from 11:30 – 4 PM on Saturday afternoons. Broomstick Bash volunteers are needed from 12 PM – 6 PM. Shifts are available upon request. Volunteers are welcome to bring family members (over the age 16) and will receive event orientation packets, complimentary box lunches and Divabetic event t-shirts for participating.

The benefits of volunteering at Divabetic community outreach events include: opportunities for team building (organization, corporate volunteer group, business units), supporting a rising community health issue while demonstrating your company’s commitment to corporate responsibility.
