Makeover Your Diabetes Day This month's featured topic, "O Taste and See" focuses on healthy eating and meal preparation. Sharon Greene, Health Promotion and Education Director of the Palm Beach County Health Department, will facilitate the program and will guide participants on how to develop a plan to change their eating habits.The program also features healthy refreshments, including sugar-free cheesecake courtesy of Rima's Cheesecake and More (Boynton Beach, FL), hand and foot massages and tai chi stretch breaks conducted by Ms. Alice Winn of Riviera Beach, FL. Each participant will receive a "Diva Diary" to track and monitor weight and lifestyle patterns. All participants will be eligible for a drawing to win a glucose meter, courtesy of Dr. Steven Kanner of West Palm Beach, FL, and a $40.00 gift certificate, courtesy of Karline's. |

Sexual problems are very common, but because sex often involves complex emotions, patients (and doctors) can find these problems difficult to raise and discuss. DIVABETIC, a community-based nonprofit diabetes organization, will be presenting free two hour presentations discussing issues concerning intimacy to help women at risk of, affected by or living with diabetes. Find out how your blood glucose levels affect your 'mojo' and how your 'mojo' affects your motivation to stay healthy. Learn what resources (local and online) are available to help and what you can do to ensure you feel 'sexy' in the future whether you're living with diabetes or in love with someone with diabetes. LITTLE PUMPKIDS: FILL UP ON FUN!
'LITTLE PUMPKIDS? goal is to help halt the epidemic of childhood TYPE 2 diabetes (directly related to obesity) and encourage active lifestyles, proper portion control and creative not caloric rewards at the one time of year when ?sugar cravings? are at their highest. 'LITTLE PUMPKIDS' provides 'unmask the facts' diabetes education tools, sensible, easy to use portion control guidelines and fosters community involvement through various volunteer and fundraising opportunities.

We're expanding our 'LITTLE PUMPKIDS' program to include CANDY 'X' EXCHANGES on the day after Halloween. The LITTLE PUMPKID's Candy 'X' Change program promises children a 'safe and sound' way to exchange their Halloween candy for calorie free and sugar free merchandise such as CD's and stuffed toys. This fast and simple act of transferring the spirit of Halloween from food to fun merchandise not only brings to life our 'FILL UP ON FUN!' motto but we also fosters a lasting impression in children who are struggling with weight related issues. All donated candy will later be sent to US military bases both domestically and internationally per their request.
